3. Check the Drainage Network

Walk around the street. Are drains open? Blocked? Too shallow? Do they lead anywhere, or do they stop abruptly? A house is only as flood-safe as the street it sits on.

4. Inspect the Height of the Property

If the house sits below road level, it is highly prone to flooding. Homes should be slightly elevated compared to the surrounding street.

Search the area name with terms like “flooding,” “rain,” or “Lekki flood.” You’ll often find news reports or social media posts.
